Character Profile: Sai
The Shadow Warrior

------
Basics
------

Full Name: Sai
Race: Sheikah/Hylian halfbreed
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Occupation: Shadow
Blood Type: A

----------
Appearance
----------

Height/Weight: 188cm/92kg
Hair: Pale blue, bangs over the right eye and long, past his butt
Eyes: Red with a rim of orange on the inside close to the pupil
Skin Tone: Medium

General Build: Medium. Sai is built for a balance between strength and agility. He is muscular, but toned and slim with broader shoulders

Distinguishing Features: His hair and eyes usually distinguish him, but he also has a tattoo of the Sheikah eye on his right shoulder. He also has two triangles tattooed under his left eye.

Preferred Clothing: A mix between Sheikah and Hylian modes of dress. He wears a scarf to conceal his face, and a skintight black shirt, a pauldron over his left shoulder with a strap from shoulder to waist that holds his sword. He wears black pants and brown Hylian-style boots.

Accessories: Sai wears a ribbon under the wrappings around his arm that Zelda gave him when they were young to remember her by in the times they were separated. He has an earring in his left ear, which he received when he came of age, (Zelda has the other one) and two earrings in the top cartilage of his right ear.

--------------
Personality
--------------

General Attitude: Sai is stoic and some would say he can be quite emotionless on the surface. He is deeply devoted to his duties as a Sheikah and his assumed responsibilities to Zelda as a friend and bodyguard. He is very serious-minded, especially when it comes to his duty.

He enjoys any challenge or test of skill, which fuels his confrontational side. Since he spent so much time training in his youth, he likes to show off his skills and can sometimes be cocky and proud. He is stubborn and won't give into failure. His pride is deeply wounded if he's ever bested in any kind of contest of skill.

Sai is also very protective of Zelda. He taught her how to fight so she could defend herself, and even taught her a few of the techniques used by his people. His devotion to her can almost be described as fanatical. He would follow her to the ends of the world and back because that is the strength of his love and devotion toward her.

There's a side of him that is never seen by anyone but Zelda; the tender side. He feels comfortable confiding in her because of the kind of bond they forged as they grew up together. He loves her in more ways than one, and their bond goes much deeper than that of friends or siblings. Sai feels as though his world would be incomplete without her, because she had always been there, especially in the times when he needed her most.

He has a kind of dry, sarcastic sense of humor and can be a real smartass. He likes sitting on the roof of the castle tower when he's upset, angry, or just thinking.

Likes: Zelda, riding, the lake, training, sweet bread from Lon Lon Ranch

Dislikes: How people fear him even though they don't know him, how his mother tries to keep him from getting close to Zelda, Ganondorf, Link

Abilities of Note: Sai is very agile, like most of his people. He can perform acrobatics, like
flipping through the air and things that seem almost second-nature to his people. He's adept at blending into the shadows; most people wouldn't even know he was there, except Zelda always has a way of seeing him when he's concealing himself. He can disappear effectively with a flash of a deku nut.

Quirks: He likes to hang out in high places (the roof of the tower, the windmill and the observation tower at Kakariko) to think or if he's angry or depressed. He loves Zelda to a fault and would gladly sacrifice himself for her. He hides under a stoic facade because he believes he's expected to act strong, even if he's scared or nervous.

Fears: His biggest fear is losing Zelda. He's built his entire world around her, and if he lost her, he would be a shadow without substance. His world would fall apart.

---------------
Background
---------------

Social Status: Like all the members of his tribe, he's a servant of the royal family
Family: A Hylian father he doesn't know, and Impa, his mother
Birth Rank: 1/1

Homeland/Birthplace: Kakariko village

History: Sai is Impa's illigitemate son. His father was a prominent Hylian. Impa never told Sai his father's name or even what happened to him, and it was an early understanding that he wasn't to ask questions about his father.

He lived in Kakariko until he was about eight. He was sent to the castle when the monster at the bottom of the well escaped and laid waste to the village, killing most of its inhabitants. Impa told Aenor to take Sai to the castle and to protect him and wait for her there. It was a time of great uncertainty for Sai. He hated not knowing whether she would live or die. That's when he met Zelda. Sitting alone in the room that was appointed to him, Zelda came and comforted him.

From then on, they were friends. Sai would sneak out of the castle with her and tell her bedtime stories, and he always watched over and protected her. He considers himself her Shadow, even though his mother is officially her Shadow.

Sai was allowed to stay at the castle and train with Aenor, who taught him more about how to fight like a Hylian, and his Hylian heritage and culture. Impa believed it was important for Sai to learn about both parts of himself. He grew close to Aenor and saw him as a father figure. Despite his training with Aenor, he would leave the castle and return to Kakariko to train in the ways of the Sheikah; stealth and the ways of the shadows.

He missed Zelda profoundly during these times. There was a girl in the village that he also grew up with, Maho, but she was like a younger sister to him and he was often annoyed with her, even if she didn't do anything in particular to make him annoyed. It was just the fact that she wasn't Zelda.

He didn't feel like he could open up to anyone in the village, so he spent long nights high in the hidden doorway of the windmill, gazing at the stars and thinking about her.

The second time he left, he gave her a pendant, a polished round stone with a circular indentation in the middle on a length of rope with a few beads. He told her it was so she had a part of him when she missed him. In return, she gave him a ribbon she wore in her hair, which he wore tied around his wrist. Whenever he missed her, he would look at it and think of her.

His final absence was a year long. When he returned, he was fourteen and Zelda was nine. A string of events began that ultimately led up to Ganondorf obtaining the triforce of power and taking over Hyrule. After that fateful night, Sai didn't know what had happened to Zelda, whether she lived or died. He tried to remain strong, but he found himself often looking at the little scrap of ribbon left and hoping she was safe.

His mother caught up with him eventually and told him that Zelda was safely hidden, but wouldn't elaborate. She also told him Aenor had been killed protecting the King. Sai hadn't expected Aenor to die. His surrogate father had been like a rock to him, strong and unyeilding. For a while, Sai couldn't help but hate him for leaving him, but he eventually realized that Aenor wouldn't be able to live knowing he wasn't able to save the King. Impa also told him something else, but it's too spoilerific to put here XD

For seven years, Sai led a band of Sheikah, a small war camp in an effort to resist Ganondorf. They only really got to fight monsters, but to them, it felt like they were doing something. Zelda came to the camp as Sheik, and Sai trained her somewhat in the ways of the Sheikah.

A lot happens between then and the end of Ocarina of Time, and goes beyond to where Zelda sends everyone back seven years to before Ganondorf infiltrated the sacred realm, but it's very long-winded and not very concrete. XD

----------
Combat
----------

General Level: High
Style: Sai prefers melee over any other style. He's proficient in the fighting style of his people, Hylian swordsmanship, and hand-to-hand. He's a decent archer, but prefers throwing knives or stars over bow and arrow. Most of all, he prefers getting in close. He wields two short swords, similar to katana. He utilizes his agility and stamina, and isn't afraid to retreat when things aren't going his way. Not to say it wouldn't hurt his ego a bit.

Advantages: Sai is very quick. He can use his acrobatics to be all over the place, and is adept with striking from the shadows and confusing his opponent. He is well-versed in anatomy, so he can utilize quick strikes in vital areas of his opponent's body to end the fight quickly.

Disadvantages: Sai's style relies mostly on speed, agility, and stamina. He's strong, but only slightly moreso than an average person. His endurance is about average. He can take a bit of punishment before caving, but not an excessive amount. His style can be altered a little for stronger opponents, and it's useful mostly against opponents who are slower than he is.

OOC Info

Notes: Sai kinda just popped into my head one day. XD If you couldn't tell, his outfit is based largely on Cloud's from Kingdom Hearts. I liked it and thought it very fitting for a Sheikah. His skin tone was kinda inspired by Ansem. Yeah, I used a bunch of KH characters for inspiration. Sai's hair is darker blue and fades to the pale blue, kinda like Ansem's too. What can I say? I like his hair. XD

If anyone wants to use Sai for fanfiction, this is what you should look at. It's far more detailed than the character profile I wrote before, since I've had a while to flesh him out a bit. The profile picture isn't a bad reference, but of course, it's only a head shot, so it doesn't count for much. I'll eventually get around to doing a full character design.
A more detailed bio for Sai, to be used by anyone who wants to put him into fanfiction. I swear, I spent half the night working on this. ><;; I had to think a lot too. XD But I think Sai's more human for it. XD
